Tomb Raider is the acclaimed 1996 action-adventure game developed by Core Design and published by Eidos Interactive, following Lara Croft’s globe-spanning hunt for the Scion of Atlantis through ancient ruins, glacial canyons, and lost cities. Its enduring popularity led to multiple re-releases across the PAL region throughout the PlayStation’s lifespan.

This UK Platinum re-release, dated 1 January 1999, represents Eidos’s budget reissue of the title aimed at broadening the game’s audience. It is presented in a Full Jewel PAL case with a standard Hologram on the case and contains a single disc in English. Two pieces of loose paperwork are included: an Eidos Purple Games With Character Catalogue and an Eidos Interactive Knutsford Registration Card. No case stickers or bundled demo discs are present. The Platinum label was Sony’s recognised budget re-release programme for titles that had achieved strong sales, and this pressing is one of fourteen catalogued PAL variants for Tomb Raider, reflecting the title’s broad and sustained commercial success across the European market.
