Starblade Alpha is a rail shooter developed by High-Tech Lab Japan and published by Namco, based on the 1991 arcade title Starblade. This PlayStation version is an enhanced port that adds a mode featuring fully textured 3D models, distinguishing it from earlier home console conversions. Players control the starfighter FX-01 GeoSword from a first-person perspective, targeting enemies with a crosshair across a series of increasingly demanding combat sequences.
This original PAL release, dated 15 February 1996, was distributed across the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, and Norway. It is presented in an English-language Multiway Jewel One Disk case with no hologram on the case. The release includes a Namco single-sided thin flyer as loose paperwork, which is a small but noteworthy inclusion for collectors. No case stickers or bundled demo discs are present. This is the only PAL variant catalogued for Starblade Alpha.
