Worms

Worms is a 2D turn-based artillery strategy game developed by Team17 and originally published by Ocean Software, in which players control teams of worms armed with an inventive arsenal of weapons across destructible landscapes. It is the founding title of the long-running Worms series and supports up to sixteen players in a single session.

Six PAL variants have been catalogued across France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and the UK. Release types include Original, Reprint, Platinum, Best Of Infogrames, and Value Series Best of Infogrames, reflecting the title’s strong commercial life that saw it republished under multiple labels after Ocean’s initial release. The game later passed to Infogrames, who issued several of the later pressings. Case formats include both Full Jewel PAL and the less common Multiway Jewel One Disk, used for the earliest original pressings. Later variants carry a hologram on the case, while the original releases do not. All releases contain a single disc and are English-language only. The breadth of release types and the transition between publishers makes Worms a particularly interesting title for PAL variant collectors.
