Twisted Metal
SCES-00061
Initially Released 10 January 1996
Twisted Metal is a vehicular combat game developed by SingleTrac Entertainment Tech and published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, placing players in a chaotic contest where modified vehicles battle to the last, with the survivor granted a single wish by the mysterious organiser Calypso. A commercial success upon its North American launch in late 1995, the PAL release followed in early 1996.
One PAL variant is currently catalogued in the database, covering a broad range of territories including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, and Norway under a single Original release. The game is presented in the Multiway Jewel Two Disk case format, a larger case style used for a number of early PAL PlayStation titles, housing a single disc. The release is in English only and carries no hologram on the case. No loose paperwork, case stickers, or bundled demo discs are documented. The earliest recorded PAL release date is 10 January 1996. The Multiway Jewel Two Disk packaging is a notable physical characteristic for collectors of early PAL release formats.
