Total NBA '96

SCES-00067
Initially Released 20 March 1996

Total NBA ‘96 is a basketball simulation developed by Team SOHO and published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, offering a PAL-market take on NBA action featuring licensed teams and players for the 1995-96 season. The game was Team SOHO’s contribution to Sony’s early sports portfolio on the PlayStation.

Two PAL variants are catalogued in the database, both Original releases covering the UK, France, and Germany in the Full Jewel PAL case format with a single disc each, in English only, and carrying no hologram on the case. Both releases share the same EAN barcode. The two variants are distinguished by their front inlay: one features a lenticular cover, which shifts image depending on the viewing angle, while the other uses a standard static inlay. Both include a Total NBA ‘96 sticker sheet as loose paperwork, and an Official Licensed NBA Product Hologram 1996 sticker is documented on the case exterior. The lenticular inlay variant is of particular interest to collectors, as it is a comparatively uncommon physical characteristic for PAL PS1 releases of this era.
