Magic Carpet
SLES-00211
Initially Released 15 March 1996
Magic Carpet is a 3D flying game developed by Bullfrog Productions, with the PlayStation port handled by Krisalis, and published by Electronic Arts. Originally released for MS-DOS in 1994 to considerable critical acclaim for its innovative graphics and gameplay, the PlayStation version was based on the Magic Carpet Plus compilation, which bundled the original game with the Hidden Worlds expansion adding 25 levels and winter-themed graphics.
Only one PAL variant is currently catalogued in the database, an original release covering the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands. This single pressing is housed in a Full Jewel Black Bordered PAL case containing a single disc, with no hologram on the case. Languages supported include English, French, German, Spanish, and Swedish. No loose paperwork or bundled demo discs have been documented. Released on 15 March 1996, no budget re-releases or Platinum editions are known for the PAL region. The black-bordered Full Jewel PAL case format is a less common packaging type in the PAL PlayStation library, adding a small degree of physical distinction to this sole European edition for collectors of early Bullfrog or Electronic Arts titles.
