Gunship

Gunship is a combat helicopter flight simulator developed and published by MicroProse Software, with the 1996 PlayStation edition building upon the foundations of the earlier Gunship 2000 and representing the series’ debut on Sony’s console. Players pilot an AH-64 Apache through combat missions, attacking enemy targets and protecting friendly forces.

The database catalogues three PAL variants, all original releases, covering France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK. All three are presented in Full Jewel PAL cases with a single disc and carry no hologram on the case. Language support is broad, with English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish all covered across the PAL releases. The earliest PAL release is recorded as 15 June 1996. No loose paperwork or bundled demo discs have been documented, though case stickers described as round and white with “90% Play” text have been noted on the European pressings. The three variants divide along country lines, with a UK-specific pressing, a combined France and Germany edition, and a combined Italy and Spain edition, each carrying a distinct EAN barcode. For collectors, the flight sim genre is modestly represented in the PAL library and complete regional sets for Gunship are a worthwhile pursuit.
