Doom
SLES-00132
Initially Released 16 November 1995
Doom is the seminal 1993 first-person shooter originally developed by id Software, with the PlayStation PAL edition developed by Midway Studios San Diego and published by GT Interactive Software and Williams Entertainment. The game places the player in the role of a space marine fighting through hordes of demons across the moons of Mars and into hell itself.
Four PAL variants are catalogued for Doom, spanning the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. Release types include the Original, Platinum, Best Of Infogrames, and Value Series Best of Infogrames editions. The original 1995 release, dated 16 November, uses a Multiway Jewel Two Disk case with no hologram on the case, while later budget and Platinum reprints moved to Full Jewel PAL cases, some carrying Hologram A or Hologram B on the case. All variants feature a single disc in English. The Best Of Infogrames and Value Series editions include an Infogrames Blue Registration Card as loose paperwork. The variety of release types, hologram types, and case formats across these four variants makes Doom a particularly rewarding title for PAL variant collectors.
