Criticom
SLES-00196
Initially Released 15 March 1996
Criticom is an early 3D fighting game developed by Kronos Digital Entertainment and published by Vic Tokai, set in a science fiction universe where eight fighters compete to claim a powerful crystal artefact called the Relic. The game was praised at the time for its visual presentation but received criticism for its gameplay mechanics.
Only one PAL variant is catalogued in the database, covering Sweden, Spain, Italy, Germany, the UK, and the Netherlands. This is an original release from March 1996, on a single disc in English, housed in a Full Jewel PAL case with no hologram on the case. No loose paperwork or bundled demo discs are documented.
As a single multi-territory PAL pressing with no later budget or Platinum re-release, Criticom is a straightforward but relatively uncommon find. It represents an early example of polygonal 3D fighting on the PlayStation and is of interest to collectors building a comprehensive PAL library or those tracking the platform’s fighting game catalogue.
