Actua Soccer is a sports simulation developed and published by Gremlin Interactive, offering a full 3D football experience across a range of national and club teams, with support for exhibition matches, leagues and tournaments. Known as VR Soccer in North America, it was the title that launched Gremlin’s successful Actua Sports series, which would compete directly with EA Sports throughout the latter half of the 1990s.
Two PAL variants are currently catalogued in the database. Both use the Full Jewel PAL case format with a single disc, and the release landscape spans the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland and Norway. An original launch edition and a Platinum budget re-release are represented. The original release carries no hologram on the case, while the Platinum edition, dated 1 August 1997, features a hologram on the case. Language coverage across variants includes English and French. No loose paperwork or bundled demo discs have been documented for either variant. The earliest PAL release is dated 10 March 1996. As the founding entry in the Actua Sports series, this title holds particular interest for collectors of Gremlin Interactive releases.
