The Multiway Jewel One Disk case is the base configuration of the multiway jewel family, used for PAL PlayStation releases that required only a single disc but were packaged in the wider multiway shell.

Physical Characteristics

The case is very similar to the Multiway Jewel Two Disk and from the outside is indistinguishable when the paper artwork is present within the clear plastic leaves.

Dimensions

Same footprint as a standard jewel case — approximately 142mm × 125mm Depth/spine width increases to slightly larger than two standard CD jewel cases. A standard single jewel case is around 10mm deep; these cases are roughly 25mm.

Construction

Clear polycarbonate plastic (same material as a standard jewel case) Front and back covers are hinged in the same way as a standard case The internal tray mechanism is replaced or stacked to accommodate additional discs — each disc typically sits in a separate moulded tray or hub, layered within the case

Internal Layout

Individual disc hubs (centre spindles) are moulded into stacked trays Discs may be accessed by lifting/folding each tray, similar to a book, or by a back-to-back arrangement depending on the manufacturer Booklet slot runs along the inside front cover as normal Back inlay sits in the rear cover as normal

Spine

Wider than a standard case, so the spine label is correspondingly taller Still carries game title and disc count information

Interior Design

Multiway one disk case open

Opening the case reveals two distinct tray sections joined at the spine. The front leaf houses a standard single-disc tray with a star-pattern spindle hub and retaining clips. The back section features a large flat circular disc platform with no hub to retain a second disk.

Multiway one disk case interior detail

In the one-disk configuration only the front leaf tray is occupied. The central black plastic hub and the rear black tray do not contain spindles to retain a CD.

Relationship to the Multiway Family

The one-disk and two-disk variants share the same basic shell. The difference in disc count reflects which positions within the case have CD hubs, rather than a fundamentally different physical case design.
